Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your comment!😄

You're wondering when to start learning Hebrew, considering your lack of vocabulary and the need for a structured course layout.

Here's a concise plan:

1. Start with Basic Vocabulary: Begin by learning fundamental Hebrew words.

2. Explore Course Options: Look for courses that would be easy to start with you, for you.

3. Set a Start Date: Choose a date to begin your studies.

4. Create a Study Plan: Outline your objectives and schedule.

5. Practice Regularly: Dedicate consistent time to learning.

6. Embrace each step and celebrate your progress!

Happy learning!

Yours,

Tal

When should I start this? I don't know the vocabulary. I need to find a layout for the course.

Hi Winkle,

Thank you for commenting and sharing your question!

The words זו / זאת are used interchangeably as synonyms. According to an analysis of older Hebrew scripts, it seems that each was used in a different historical period and place, and therefore the duality. Nowadays both are acceptable and common. 😄

I hope that helps :)

Roi

What's the difference between זו / זאת?

Hi ayelet,

Thanks for posting your question!

Gender of objects plays a main role in Hebrew, and in this case, there are both a masculine "this" (זה) and a feminine "this" (זו / זאת).

Since "necklace" "מחרוזת" is a feminine noun, the appropriate version is the feminine, "zu".

I hope that's clear now, please let us know if you have any more questions 👍

Best,

Roi

in the dialogue, sentence 5 (from the top) describes the neclace placement with the word HaZoo. why is it not HaZe?

thank you,

ayelet

Shalom פדרו

I understand perfectly what you mean, I'm finding the lessons also very difficult for beginners. Maybe a tip you can use, I watch Israeli movies and series on Netflix and watch programs like the voice Israel on you tube. I'm not really a " the voice " person but I found it is quite easy to understand what they are saying. Hope this helps you 👍

Anyway tomorrow Purim Sameach so let's feast and be merry 😜

Yom tov,

Danielle

Hi Teresa,

Thanks for commenting on this.

I understand it might be a little confusing, but the words listed in the vocabulary section are correct - שרשרת is another word for מחרוזת, and ממושך is "long" in the context of time (long time).

I will forward your request to add "פנינים" to the vocabulary. until then - "פנינים" is pronounced 'p'ninim' and means "pearls".

Yours,

Roi

Can you check the words for "long" and "necklace" in the vocabulary section? The conversation uses different words than are listed in the vocabulary. It would also be useful to have the word for "pearls" listed.

I have had access to this exercise sometimes when I use the daily dose app. My assessment is that I dont think it is useful for a beginning student like me. In the laptop device it can be better followed because we have the slow down utility here that can help to recognize some of the vocabulary utilized. To be sincere I think I recognized about a 5 percent of all the conversation this is a max percentage. The designer of this exercise should realize that beginners like me have access to hebrew conversations maybe at most once per week if I am lucky. I have attempted to listen to Israeli radio with the same success. I can comprehend a maximum to be lenient 5 percent of the conversation. I have noted though that it is better with my familiarity with the vocabulary but the speed which the conversation takes place limits my comprehension to at most 5 percent. Finally the lack of comprehension leads to a turndown. It is why I think this exercise is not useful or helpful for beginners like me.

Shalom Shelley,

Thank you for your comment.

Yes. יום הולדתה is basically a shortcut for יום ההולדת שלה but you could skip that and just say:

ליום ההולדת של בתי

As for keeping the original positioning of the words in the end of the last sentence, you could say:

.לכן קניתי סוכריה על מקל בשבילה במקום

Although this is not grammatically incorrect it's somehow sounds less native comparing to

.לכן קניתי לה סוכריה על מקל במקום

Thank you. I understand most of the corrections. You made yom huledet in the feminine form to match "my daughter"? Also you changed the positioning of my words at the end of the last sentence. Can I also do it that way?We can phrase it both ways in English. It felt better to put the direct object-the lollipop-right after the verb-bought.

Shalom Shelley,

Thank you very much for your comment.

Vey good!

Some small corrections:

I went to the jewelry store to buy a pearl necklace for my daughter’s birthday, but it was too expensive, so I bought a lollipop for her instead. =

הלכתי לחנות התכשיטים לקנות שרשרת פנינים ליום הולדתה של בתי, אבל היא היתה יקרה מידי לכן קניתי לה במקום סוכריה על מקל

הלחתי לחנות תכשיטים לקנות שרשרת הפנינים ליום הולדת של בחי ,אבל את זו היה יותר יקר מדי ,כל כך קניתי סוכריה על מקל לה במקום I went to the jewelry store to buy a pearl necklace for my daughter's birthday, but it was too expensive, so I bought a lollipop for her instead.

Hello team. the Hebrew conversation uses different words for "here it is", long, and necklace than are listed in the vocabulary. The simpler words are listed in the vocabulary, but I would appreciate the words used in the lesson also be listed.

Other unfamiliar words should also be listed like, Jewelry, pendant. l'gavi which means-about? and oovcane which means well then? Almost impossible to understand with unfamiliar words and spoken so quickly. Thanks for your help.
