Hi, everybody! Idit here. Welcome to Hebrew Top Words and today, we are going to talk about top 10 marriage proposal lines. This one is going to be quite cheesy so prepare a glass of water. Let’s start.
1.
(hatinasyi li?)
"Will you marry me? "
This one is the most common way of asking somebody if they will marry you. Still, it has a little bit of romanticism to it, but it’s not too bad.
2.
(haym tihii li leisha)
"Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
Yeah, well I have… to make a disclaimer and say that, most of those sentences or maybe all of those sentences are from a man to a woman, but of course, I mean, you can change them around. We’re in 2017, anything is possible.
3.
(hayim tahafkhi oti la'adam hameushar aley adamot?)
"Will you make me the happiest man alive?"
Most of these sentences in Hebrew are quite… it’s quite of an old fashion way of speaking Hebrew so
(aley adamot),
the meaning is like on Earth. It’s not the happiest man alive, it’s the happiest man on the ground, on Earth.
4.
(at ha'achat shechikiti la kol chayay)
"You are the one I've been waiting for my whole life."
What? Yeah, okay.
5.
(ani rotse lihiot yitakh lanetsakh)
"I want to be with you forever."
The verb
להיות
(lichiot)
in Hebrew, means “to live” so actually this one, it’s not just to be together forever, but also live together forever, you know, until death do you part.
6.
(boyi nevale et she'erit chayeynu beyachad)
"Let’s spend the rest of our lives together."
7.
(itakh letsidi ani shalem)
"Having you by my side completes me."
You should be complete by yourself before you can have anybody else in your life. Just saying.
8.
(ani lo yachol ledamyen et chayay biladaikh)
"I can't imagine my life without you in it."
(ani lo yachol ledamyen et chayay biladaikh)
"I can't imagine my life without you."
Okay. This is making me super uncomfortable. Okay, yeah, let’s move on. Okay, okay, I can do this, I can do this.
9.
(halevay veyakholti latet lakh hakol, akh ani mekave shetaba'at taspik)
"I wish I could give you everything, but I hope that this ring is enough."
My precious, hmmm.
10.
(ani yodea she'at vaani noadnu lihiot yachad)
"I know that you and I are truly meant to be together."
If you believe in that. I don’t believe in soulmates. Do you? I don’t. It’s all circumstantial you know.
Those were our top 10 marriage proposal lines. I need a glass of water. It was really so crazy, really cheesy. Let me know in the comments below if you are married and how did you propose or how were you proposed? That’s kind of interesting and I will see you all next time. Bye-bye!
