Brandon: And welcome to Culture Class: Essential Hebrew Vocabulary, Lesson 6! In this lesson you'll learn five essential words related to food and drink. These are five common fruits in Hebrew. Hand picked. You can find a complete list of vocabulary at HebrewPod101.com

Brandon: This fruit is large, rough, and prickly on the outside but soft and sweet on the inside. Also known as the “cactus pear” in English, it grows wildly in Israel and is a symbol of the Zionist and Israeli culture.

Brandon: The watermelon is a favorite summer fruit in Israel. The watermelon season starts in June, reaches its peak in July, and ends in August.
