Question on alphabet

Postby dianafrrr5232992 » October 7th, 2013 4:41 pm

My questions is: I am studing with many different things and in a book (basics of biblical Hebrew) I have found that here on hebrewpod VAV is with a "V" and in my book it says it is a "W". Can anyone clear this up for me and tell me what is the correct way. I have learned the alefbet with the v. Also the last letter says "TAW" in book, I understand it to be "TAV". again which is correct? Thanks Diana

hello, i am in the same learning stage you are, and i read somewhere that the waw is the ancient way of pronouncing the letter, it is now pronounced vav.

Shalom Diana,

Thank you for your comment and sorry for the late replay.
The letter ״ו״ in Hebrew is with "V". VAV
The last letter, "ת" is TAV.

Happy Hebrew learning,
